Therapists for college students near 10003
I specialize in working with clients who are experiencing a multitude of challenges, including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, disability/chronic illness, identity exploration, and challenges with self-esteem. This can include family/relationship issues, life transitions (including college/early adulthood), or identity formation. I specialize in working with neurodivergent individuals, especially women with ADHD. Supporting LGBTQ+ mental health from an intersectional lens is another focus. I also have an interest in working with clients who are exploring immigrant experience, family dynamics, and generational trauma. I previously worked in college counseling (at Wellesley College) and residential life (at Harvard College), so I'm well-attuned to the specific experiences and challenges of college student life! As a relational psychodynamic therapist, I believe that our experiences are shaped by our relationships with ourselves, other people, and the world at large. My work is informed by feminist, queer, disability, and critical race theory. I also integrate narrative therapy, which allows us to reimagine the stories we tell about ourselves and our lives. I am deeply attentive to how identity and marginalization can impact one's experiences and movement through the world. In my work, I strive for a trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive, and socially just practice. I meet clients with curiosity, warmth, and nuance to explore their experiences, relationships, and challenges. My goal is to co-create a welcoming and supportive space in which clients can tell/retell their stories, appreciate their strengths, and work towards their goals
All sessions are done virtually.
Life often brings us to a crossroads - where old perspectives, ways of feeling and being meet a desire for something new. Self-criticism, pain from past hurt, and fear of the future can create distance from a sense of aliveness, and hold us back from meaningful change. Over time, this may show up as relationship conflict, lack of purpose, feeling confused or numb, anxious, or depressed. Often these patterns are rooted in early relationships or unresolved experiences that shape how we view the world, attach and relate. I see therapy as a process of helping clients reconnect with themselves; rebuilding clarity, self-trust, and agency. Therapy with me is collaborative, authentic, and most importantly - rooted in the safety and trust of relationship. It is important to me to balance authenticity, warmth and humor, with honesty and directness. I offer traditional talk therapy and somatic practices that help you understand, process, and relate to your emotions - and whole self - in new ways.
I support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, and stress that impact daily life and relationships. Therapy is a collaborative process, and together we’ll explore which approaches and strategies work best for you, creating a personalized path to growth and healing. I offer a compassionate, supportive space for anyone navigating personal difficulties. Together, we’ll explore your experiences and work toward meaningful change.
Hello and Welcome! Whether you're new to mental health care or have tried it out already, making the decision to seek care is an important investment in your overall wellbeing. In my private practice, I care for concerns that are common among people in university settings, including anxiety, depression, stress, sleep, and self esteem. I provide both medication management and psychotherapy services. In psychotherapy, I also work with people on all kinds of issues that may not have a specific diagnosis to go with them, but which still can have a big impact on wellbeing, like navigating life transitions, relationships, family, setting goals, and managing the stress of the world and of being a student or university employee! My practice strives to be open and welcoming for people of all backgrounds and lived experiences. If you'd like to learn more about my practice, background, treatment philosophy, or fee ranges for different types of visits, please check out my website.

When things are difficult, it can isolate us, drain our emotional reserves, and limit our ability to look at things in new ways. I work to help clients appreciate the depth of their experience, and support them toward personal strength and healthier relationships. My style is open, collaborative, direct, and supportive. I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years in private practice. I also served as adjunct faculty at the University of Rochester's Counseling Center for many years. I bring a range of approaches, but tailor my work to the specific needs of each client. My specialties include issues of loss and trauma, depression, anxiety, medical concerns, life changes, ADHD challenges, LGBTQ+ support, and stressful family or workplace relationships. Many of my clients work in arts-related or other creative fields. I look forward to meeting you!
Welcome! I'm Krystal Haas, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). You may see letters next to the names you find on your search, like LCSW, PsyD, or LMHC, and so on. Looking for a therapist can be a daunting and confusing task, so first I'd like to congratulate you on taking your first step. I'm hoping I can make it a little easier by sharing about myself and how I may be able to help you reach your goals. In my case, as an LMHC, my master's degree education was geared specifically to counseling and learning all of the skills necessary to work directly with people. I've been working for about 5 years now as a clinician, and started my private practice at the end of 2022 - one of the best decisions I've ever made! I work with a variety of ages including kids, teens, and young adults, and I often work with individuals who are struggling with the transition to college and/or adulthood. If you've been experiencing anxiety, depression, changes in mood, identity exploration, stress, or problems with "adulting", then we may be a good match! I use methods like CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and eclectic methods, but that may all sound like gibberish. Essentially, I take an educational and supportive approach by listening to your concerns and needs, and then working with you to establish a way to reach your goals. Even if we don't have all the answers right away, it can help to know you have someone on your team to listen. If this sounds up your alley, you're more than welcome to reach out by phone or email to schedule a free 15 minute consultation. I hope to connect, and wish you best of luck on your search!

With over 7 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults navigating trauma, adversity and other life stressors, I have witnessed that trauma and stress are not simply our thoughts but deeply embedded in our minds and bodies, causing impact to the whole person. This understanding has informed my clinical approach through helping individuals regulate their stress response and nervous system so they can feel more in control of their emotions, thoughts, and reactions. My therapeutic approach is rooted in the belief that change is possible through safe and healthy connections and feeling seen and heard.

College is a time of huge transitions, and it’s easy to feel anxious, stressed, or unsure where you stand. If you're struggling with overwhelming worry (anxiety), feeling stuck after a tough transition (like starting school or a breakup), grappling with past trauma, or just trying to figure out challenging relationships, you've come to the right place. Your Therapy, Your Tools My practice is built on the belief that you already have what you need within you (though it may not feel like it, right now) —we just need to clear out all the noise and find and focus on what actually works for you. We'll ease your mind: We use practical, science-backed strategies to help you unhook from negative thought spirals and calm that constant feeling of being "on edge." We'll discover and heal the root causes : We'll gently explore the "parts" of you that are feeling anxious, unclear, or worn out, and use powerful processing methods to reduce the intensity of recent or past trauma or fear (like EMDR and IFS). We'll help you adjust: Whether you're dealing with the stress of major life transitions or trying to set healthier boundaries in relationships, we'll create space for you to process the change and build a stronger sense of self. We'll get you grounded: I integrate the calming power of nature-based tools (in or out of the office) to help your nervous system slow down, allowing you to find a peaceful space even when deadlines are looming. We’ll work together, at your own pace, to move you from feeling overwhelmed to thriving on campus and beyond. I work with people feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or ready for change—people who want to feel confident, connected, and in control of their lives. Many of my clients are seeking support for depression, anxiety, eating disorders, body image concerns, relationship challenges, or low self-esteem. My goal is to help you move toward a healthier, fulfilling version of yourself. Many of my patients are readers. When desired, I suggest novels that offer insight, perspectives, or emotional connections to themes we’re exploring in therapy. This creates a meaningful and creative pathway to growth. Curious? I see patients online in New York and Virginia, and in person or online in Missouri. I've been in private practice for 10+ years. Before that, I worked in inpatient, PHP, and IOP settings.
