I am so glad you're here. You just took the hardest step, so take a second for a self-hug. I believe therapy is one of the most rewarding things you can offer yourself, so congratulations. We are all on our own journey, have our own individual needs, and a history that makes us who we are. In turn, I work with every person, meet them where they are at, support & guide them, through a treatment plan we build together, to help them with their day to day challenges, and long term goals. Therapy is a beautiful tool that, if used correctly, can be life changing. I enjoy nothing more than guiding people in finding their way & themselves. I pull much of my practice from life experiences. I am an honest, authentic New Yorker who is empathetic, yet direct. For decades I have worked with young adults (high school into college) navigating the intricacies of relationships, self love, identity searching and beyond. Life can be hard. We can be even harder on ourselves. It is easy to get overwhelmed, lost, confused - but we do not need to be on this journey alone. I'm a therapist, or a friend - whatever you need in the moment. Some people are anxious about entering therapy, but my approach is: what a gift to have someone in your corner who is simply there to support you.

Clients who see me are grappling with changes in their mood, repetitive intrusive thoughts, anxiety, trauma, relationship trouble and difficulty managing their emotions. I have a passion for helping clients get unstuck from areas holding them back, whether it's keeping relationships, worries about the future getting in the way of living life now, or past unpleasant experiences that are keeping you up at night. I work best with adults who are ready to dig into the work and create a life filled with joy and meaning. I utilize an integrated approach including talk therapy, DBT, and EMDR. I offer a compassionate, empathetic, non-judgmental space for you to process, learn and grow from various life challenges. I have extensive experience working in trauma-informed, solution-focused methods with survivors of trauma. We may not have control over traumatic events that take place in our lives, but we are in control of creating our futures. We all have things keeping us from living the life we really want. If you are struggling, undecided on what steps to take, unsure about your future, or simply trying to imagine a better way to cope with current stress, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Life can sneak up on us without warning and emotional stressors impact all individuals without discrimination. Many times people turn to ineffective coping strategies as a means of escaping emotional pain. I believe that the most successful path to healing is one that treats the whole person, not just the symptoms. I understand that addiction, depression, anxiety, and stress can affect every aspect of your life. It is my hope that, together, we can develop healthier skills to overcome whatever barriers you may be experiencing to physical, mental, and emotional wellness. I use an eclectic treatment approach consisting of evidence-based practices, tailored to your individual needs in order to achieve the quality of life you desire. I have formal training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Person-Centered Therapy (PCT). I graduated from St. John Fisher College with my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and went on to get my License in Mental Health Counseling (LMHC). I am also a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). I have worked in a number of outpatient settings and have specialized in treating adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders since 2010. If you feel that you are ready to make positive changes in your life, I encourage you to take that first step on your journey to healing. Let our work together help transform you into the best version of yourself. I look forward to seeing you soon!

So many young adults are struggling to adjust to new experiences like going to college and moving out. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed just thinking about living on your own and wondering how your friends are so easily moving out of their parents’ home. College sounds like a logical next step and you’re wondering how to make the leap. The idea of landing a job may seem scary and intimidating. Relationships with friends and partners may also be changing, leaving you lonely and uncertain. This can all result in your friends moving on with their lives and you feeling left behind. Trying to leave the comfort and security of the nest can be harder if you are battling old habits you have never looked at or believed you could change. Qualities like trying to be perfect, avoiding tough issues, putting things off and a lack of self-confidence can all add to the struggle of becoming more independent. Many young adults also suffer from severe anxiety, depression or past trauma. When we add in that life skills may not be your strong suit and you may depend on your parents more than other young adults your age do, you have the perfect recipe for failure to launch. Just recognizing what is happening is such a positive first step! Individual therapy is a great place to start for anyone struggling with failure to launch. One of my favorite things to help clients uncover is their spark; the thing in life you feel most passionate about! Let’s get you motivated and doing things you excel at. Learning healthier ways to cope, ditching old habits and feeling better about yourself will get you on track to creating a fun, happy and fulfilling life. Ready to start your journey toward “launching” your life? Then let’s chat! Reach out for your free 15 minute phone consultation. We can check in, I can see how you’re doing and answer your questions.

Whether you're navigating personal struggles or relationships, I’ll help you gain insight, strengthen your emotional toolkit, and find lasting solutions. My approach to therapy is focused on developing genuine relationships that are collaborative and empathic, so clients can feel safe, understood, and supported in sessions. I’m committed to exploring and affirming each client's individuality and intersecting identities, and to supporting individuals in the LGBTQ+ and CNM communities, college students, and professors. I work with adults focused on issues related to social anxiety, ADHD, trauma, LGBTQ+ issues, relationship/communication dynamics, and climate anxiety. Sessions are based on a foundation of relational warmth and safety to build a sense of connection, empowerment, deeper insight, and personal resiliency. I primarily draw from person-centered, feminist, trauma-informed, narrative, and IFS approaches, but there is not one specific kind of therapy that works well for everyone. We all have unique strengths and perspectives. Sessions focus on identifying ways to create sustainable positive changes given each client's particular context and lived experience.

If you’re looking for an experienced psychologist who values collaboration and providing you with structured tools, I’d love to hear from you!
