Welcome! I am excited to meet you and work with you. I love working with college students. This is such a special time in your life. Transitioning from home, into college and into the workforce can be exciting but stressful. Many struggle with homesickness, stress from academics, problems with social adjustment or time management. Or just simply suddenly dealing with depression, anxiety, or past trauma that finally needs to be addressed. No matter the issues, I am here to help.
Hello and thank you for your interest. I fully understand some of the stressors that come with being a college student. Not only the stressors of school, but also juggling what life throws your way. My purpose is to help you get to a place where you can confident and comfortable, so that you can focus on academics. We will work together to identify issues, set boundaries, and create a treatment plan that best fits your needs. I am flexible on hours depending on your needs and availability. I look forward to speaking with you.
Heather loves to help her clients achieve the goals they set for themselves. She works hard to create a warm, relaxing and open minded environment for her clients to work. Heather has experience helping families meet each other where they are and improving the relationships; helping those struggling with addictions and how to work through the process; helping those with stress/depression/grief/school/relationship and work struggles are some examples of the type of clients Heather helps. She can help guide her clients to the goals they set and live the life they want and deserve. Heather understands that life can throw curve balls to all and wants to do what she can to help you from where you are. Heather helps based on what the client or clients are looking for. She will always have a plan for your sessions, but truly wants her clients to have a voice in how they work through whatever issues are at hand. When Heather is not working, she loves to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoys being outside, road trips, being on the water somewhere, building her faith and finding a good spot to read a book. Heather cannot wait to help you achieve the goals you have and would love to talk with you further about how she can assist you.

I provide meaning-centered counseling for individuals navigating trauma, chronic pain, and long-standing stress. My practice is grounded in the belief that experiences are held not only as memories or thoughts, but also within the nervous system as patterns shaped over time. When appropriate, I integrate body-based tools and insight-oriented approaches, supporting students who may understand their experiences intellectually yet continue to feel trapped in how their body responds. Work is paced, collaborative, and attentive to context, readiness, and lived experience rather than quick symptom fixes. My services are offered through in-person sessions in Frisco, Texas, and via secure telehealth across the state. My private practice is self-pay. For those wanting to use insurance, I also see clients through Legacy Trails Therapy, where select plans are accepted under supervisory billing. This can be discussed during consultation.
We are a group practice offering individual, couples and family therapy. We are also a state-licensed Treatment Facility, offering outpatient care for clients with Substance Use and Co-occurring disorders. We accept most major insurance, and also offer a sliding fee scale. If you're interested in scheduling an appointment, please complete our "new client" form on our website, and we will reach out to you!
Are you feeling overwhelmed by pressure to perform, constantly overthinking, or worried about failing—even when you’re doing your best? I work with athletes who are navigating anxiety, burnout, identity challenges, and the stress of balancing academics, activities, relationships, and life transitions. Many of my clients are driven and capable, but feel stuck, stretched too thin, or unsure of who they are outside of achievement. My approach is practical, supportive, and focused on real-life tools you can actually use. I integrate evidence-based methods like cognitive-behavioral strategies and strengths-based work to help you better understand your thoughts, emotions, and stress responses. I’m direct when it’s helpful, encouraging when you feel stuck, and focused on helping you build confidence, emotional balance, and resilience without sacrificing your well-being. Your first session is a low-pressure conversation where we’ll talk about what’s been weighing on you, what you want to change, and what support could look like. You don’t need to have the “right” words—just come as you are. Together, we’ll create a clear path forward so you can feel more grounded, confident, and in control of your life.

The college experience is not what Hollywood would have you believe. In addition to being academically challenging, students often face other challenges such as learning how to navigate the logistics of life (such as making it to an 8:00 a.m. class!) without the oversight and structure of parents, learning how to establish new friendships, learning relationship skills, and finding balance in their lives. It can simply be overwhelming. You may just need a little help. I am an LCSW and have 30 years experience in the social work field and have spent the past 6 years providing mental health counseling with students in a university setting - my favorite population ever! I have worked with students dealing with adjustment to college, executive functioning, relationship issues and navigating helicopter parents. College students can find themselves experiencing depression, anxiety, OCD and sometimes this is the age when issues like bipolar disorder and schizophrenia arise. Sometimes past trauma begins to rear its ugly head and cause issues that need addressing. Asking for professional help can be scary; but can help you determine if you might just need some skills to help you better cope or if you have deeper issues going on. Just know that you are the one in control in counseling sessions - I can't insist you share more than you are ready to share or "make" you do anything you don't want to do! You are the boss! I would love to walk with you in your journey! This can be a very exciting time and we want you to make the most of the opportunity.
