Therapists for college students near University of Texas at Austin
My goal is to understand your internal experience, and support you through challenges. I utilize approaches that aim to change maladaptive thinking and behavioral patterns, identify strengths and values, establish healthy daily routines, and increase self acceptance. I specialize in working with people who feel stressed or overwhelmed with life circumstances, and need help with structure, boundaries, communication skills, and healthy coping. I help clients take control of their life by focusing on self improvement and clarifying their needs and wants.
I’m a dedicated mental health professional with over 17 years of experience helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, addiction, and grief. I’ve supported children and families in the child protection system, worked with those struggling with substance abuse, and assisted older adults facing grief and age-related challenges. With experience in Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), I help clients manage workplace stress, major life transitions, and personal struggles. Together, we focus on building resilience, healing, and creating positive change. I specialize in supporting individuals navigating grief, anxiety, depression, and significant life transitions. I help clients build essential coping skills, manage anger, modify behaviors, enhance parenting strategies, and heal from trauma. My approach is tailored to each person’s unique needs, fostering growth, resilience, and recovery. I understand that life may feel uncertain right now, with challenges at work, personal struggles, or ongoing crises. If you're feeling overwhelmed or unsure, I’m here to help. Whether you need a service screening or an assessment, I invite you to book a session with me through my website. You're not alone in this journey.
If you are looking for a different type of counselor where you build an authentic relationship, you’re in the right place. To best help my patients, I believe that a solid and authentic relationship must be built between counselor and you. The most important part about counseling is that you feel heard and comfortable. My experience consists of 6 plus years of working with adults and adolescents in a private health setting. I have a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of North Texas. As a counselor, I have worked with patients who have anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem, and grief/grieving issues. My specialties lie in working with patients who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, trauma, and pregnancy issues, and abortion. Although I do follow a combination of counseling theories, my main framework would be Humanistic “Person-centered.” This means that I have great respect for your autonomy and your ability to discern your own path, solutions, and direction in life. My goal in therapy is to help you discover the answers that lie within yourself to better your life at a pace that you feel comfortable with. I look forward to helping you create some relief from your worries in life. Whether that's the stress and frustrations of daily life or overcoming personal trauma, I'm confident I can help guide you through the bad days and bring a different perspective that will help you take back control of your life.
Our time together will be spent figuring the aspects- emotional, intellectual, sensory-based, and behavioral- of life through out your own story. Growing into learning how to listen to yourself so you can trust what it is you know, and what it is you need will be at the core of each session so that the feelings of stress, overwhelm, anxiousness, depression no longer keep you detached from yourself. The tools I use are done with cultural considerations, and by acknowledging the extra burdens social constructs and systemic environments put on you. I start with listening and being a witness to your story. With your consent, I use therapeutic tools to assist you in taking an objective stance in your story, and in offering yourself compassion. Continuing through developing and honing in on how you understand your experience through strengthening the connection between your mind and body. I am also trained in and have used EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) with children, teens, adults of both the neurodiverse (Autism, ADHD, etc.) and neurotypical populations. EMDR is used in session, with your consent, when you feel the need to address larger internal hurdles such as phobias or trauma(s) (also known as PTSD or C-PTSD). All of the work will be done at your pace and with your specific needs in mind. I am an affirming counselor and believe counseling should be for everyone. I understand the systemic pressure that can have you trying to “get it right!” A benefit to you may be my stance on de-stigmatizing mental health by avoiding rigid diagnoses and accepting that there is more than one way to live and thrive in this/your world. I will be ready when you are. Until then, good luck on your search. My license number is #93296. I am supervised by Stamatis Bogdanos, LPC-S | #64556 in Houston, Tx. I am a compassionate therapist committed to guiding AAPI and BIPOC women through the challenges rooted in cultural values, family conflicts, anxiety, depression, exploring intersectionality, and intergenerational trauma. As a South Asian American, I bring a culturally sensitive approach that fosters a connection with my clients. As a therapist, I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to support individuals in processing and overcoming the impact of traumatic experiences. Trauma is not always the byproduct of significant life altering events but can occur from small events like chronic stress, bullying, discrimination, dysfunctional family dynamics, microaggression, and constant exposure to challenging situations. EMDR involves a structured approach, helping clients identify and reframe/reprocess negative beliefs and emotions associated with past traumas. I also utilize therapeutic frameworks as Humanistic Person-Centered approach, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Strengths Based approach. I will be someone who listens, assists you to identify your goals, and empowers you along the therapeutic process. I will provide you with a non-judgmental, confidential safe space for you to express all you wish to share.

Trauma, Relationships, and Family Patterns — Helping You Build Healthier Connections If you’re feeling overwhelmed by past experiences, stuck in relationship patterns, or struggling with communication and connection, you’re not alone. I work with individuals, couples, and families who are navigating trauma, family-of-origin challenges, communication difficulties, cultural differences, and life transitions—and who are ready to better understand themselves and create meaningful change. As a practicum therapist in the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Abilene Christian University, I am supervised by Julia Wesley, LMFT-S, and provide therapy in the Frisco and Prosper areas. In our work together, you can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental space where we focus on understanding patterns—how you communicate, how your family-of-origin experiences shape your relationships, and how past experiences may still be impacting you today. I help clients build stronger communication skills, navigate conflict more effectively, and develop healthier, more fulfilling relationships. I am especially passionate about working with those impacted by trauma and helping clients make sense of how their past connects to their present. My approach is grounded in family systems and relational therapy, meaning we look at how your relationships, environment, and experiences all interact. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we work to understand the bigger picture and create lasting change in the patterns that matter most to you. I strive to provide a culturally sensitive and inclusive space, and I am committed to supporting clients from diverse backgrounds, including those within the LGBTQ+ community. Before entering the therapy field, I worked in leadership and people management, where I developed strong skills in communication, conflict resolution, and supporting individuals through challenges. I bring that real-world experience into the therapy room to help clients apply practical tools in their daily lives. I am also passionate about supporting diverse and underserved communities. My work as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Ambassador and ADHD advocate reflects my commitment to creating an inclusive, culturally aware space where clients feel seen, respected, and understood. Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, but you don’t have to do it alone. If you’re ready to begin your healing journey or want to see if we’re a good fit, I invite you to connect.
