After 40+ years of experience working with depression, anxiety, and stress management, I continue to find deep gratification in helping people relieve suffering and transform their lives. If sexuality is part of your problem, I am one of few professionals certified as a sex therapist, supervisor, and fellow by the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists. Hi I’m James (they/them). I am currently accepting sliding-scale clients at $10-$100 depending on what you can afford. I am doing in-person work, or virtual (in PA). I am available for short-term therapy (through April), with a focus on somatic experiencing: a type of therapy can support you to build capacity to show up in the world and in your body the way you want to. Somatic experiencing (SE) explores ways our bodies hold stress, overwhelm, and trauma patterns. By bringing awareness to these patterns and learning new tools, you can shift the patterns held in your body that are no longer serving you. Somatic experiencing is geared towards resolving trauma held in the body. It can be used to address specific events/trauma, ongoing stressors, or to build resilience in a more general way. If you aren’t interested in somatic therapy and would prefer someone to talk and process with, I’m also down for that. I draw upon my background in harm reduction, clinical herbalism, and personal experiences with physical and mental health struggles. My practice focuses on supporting queer and trans communities. I’m currently working towards a masters degree in social work from Smith College.
For Sadar Psychological, the most important thing is the quality of life and functionality of our patients. We use scientifically based methods to measure, analyze and understand your brain’s functioning, to help develop a plan to maximize treatments and life style changes to help you feel and function your best. If you are looking to understand what might be the best type of treatment for you, we will serve as a "Primary Care Psychologist" and help you address your mental health needs. We begin by understanding your brain through collaborative work with researchers at Harvard University in the Neuromodulation Laboratory at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston with the aim of directing you to the the most advanced treatments in neuro-rehabilitation. Our partnership with HBIMed in Switzerland allows us to base our evaluations on the latest research available.
Current openings for new clients are available as of 9/1/2021. Throughout our lives, experiences we have can lead us to feel disconnected in various ways, from our own sense of self and values, important people in our life, and our emotions. This disconnection can result in feelings of loneliness and isolation, lack of motivation, overwhelming anxiety, or uncertainty about who we are and what we want in life and it often leads to unhealthy ways of coping (e.g., emotional eating, focusing too much on work, lack of self-care, etc.). My focus in working with clients is to help them reconnect with themselves, with others, and with their emotions so that they can lead a more satisfying life filled with meaningful relationships and purpose. My approach to therapy is primarily rooted in a modern psychodynamic orientation. As such, I value the development of a strong therapeutic relationship and meaningful connection with clients. Together, we work on understanding unhealthy patterns and improve ability to cope with distress, manage multiple life roles, live a more balanced life, and connect more fully with emotions. I am especially passionate about working with college-aged students and athletes who may be experiencing eating and/or body image concerns, as well as issues related to men and masculinity. . I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Penn State University and completed my internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at Penn State University.
COVID-19 Update: I am offering secure online, video or phone sessions. I am Danielle DiNatale, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and have worked as a Licensed Social Worker/Mental Health Therapist since 2009. I have experience working with adults (in college and out of college) who are in need of identifying and addressing the barriers that have been preventing them from achieving personal and academic success. I use solution-focused and cognitive-behavioral approaches so clients can gain an understanding of how their thoughts and feelings influence their behaviors. With this evidenced-based approach, I help clients learn strategies and techniques that allow them to achieve positive change. I welcome the opportunity to discuss your needs in the hope that I can be of assistance.

I believe in utilizing holistic approaches that fit the individual needs. I often find a person-centered and solution-focused approach to be beneficial by providing genuineness, acceptance and empathy. I welcome the opportunity to work with students seeking support. In addition to talking, I use a range of expressive methods to assist with personal growth and healing, including imagery, writing, drama, and movement.
