Welcome! I specialize in providing evidence-based treatment for disordered eating, eating disorders, and anxiety/perfectionism. I am extensively trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT is an action-based therapy which helps individuals accept challenging emotions and experiences while doing what works and is meaningful to them - moving towards the life they want to live. ACT is an evidence-based treatment for eating disorders, as well as anxiety, depression, OCD, and chronic pain. For the past five years, I have worked in eating disorder treatment at all levels of care. I am a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) by the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP).
Place of Peace was created to help individuals, couples and families in our community navigate the stressful nature of dealing with mental health and other life challenges. We are a group of psychologists, therapists, counselors and social workers who use cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness and meditation and trauma therapy, among other things, with the goal of helping individuals create a peaceful place inside themselves. We know this can be difficult, especially when we are struggling with anxiety, depression or emotional pain. Our therapists use empirically-validated and time-tested treatments to help you identify the cause of your pain, heal the underlying issues that are leading to your symptoms and build new skills for healthier habits and patterns.
I am so glad you reached my profile! I have experience working with individuals impacted by trauma, anxiety, depression, and other life challenges. I use a number of evidence-based practices when working with clients. I am down-to-earth, nonjudgemental, and focused on you feeling safe in the session. Email if you have any questions!

Great to meet you! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in the treatment of depression, anxiety, addictive patterns, grief/loss, and stress management. I have worked in various settings providing individualized counseling services to adults and young adults with a wide range of emotional, behavioral and interpersonal challenges. Perhaps you’ve been keeping your head above water in your day-to-day life, but find yourself worrying a lot or feeling stuck in a “funk." Maybe you’ve been carrying something heavy for long enough, and are finally ready to talk through it in a supportive space. Or maybe you simply want to feel heard and understood as you navigate a tough transition in your life; you just need someone to be there with you while you do it. While anxiety and trauma may leave us feeling depleted, I believe that counseling can help us find our most authentic and resilient selves through these experiences. My aims are to listen with non-judgment, to help you identify the goals and steps toward them that feel right for you, and to offer support, tools, and even a gentle nudge when you need it. We will co-create a space that feels safe enough to talk about the hard stuff in life, while also shining plenty of light on what helps you feel hopeful and positive. The decision to start counseling is not an easy one, and I know feeling a good connection with your counselor matters. I am passionate about building genuine and effective relationships with my clients and find that empathy, authenticity, and even humor are helpful tools in doing so. Please feel free to reach out about setting up a free phone consultation. I offer a combination of in-person and telehealth sessions based on the needs, preferences, and health status of both myself and my clients. Rates listed below are cash pay rates as of May 2022; out-of-pocket expenses to clients using insurance will vary based on their specific insurance plans, so please confirm the coverage of your specific plan prior to initiating services.

Getting started can be overwhelming. My goal is to help you feel as comfortable as possible so we can go at your pace. I specialize in working with clients with anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and addiction. Many of my clients have tried to cope with difficult life changes by pushing their feelings away or finding short-term coping mechanisms that serve as a distraction. My role is to help people listen to and manage their emotions without feeling overwhelmed or ruled by them. Being personally in recovery from alcohol helps me understand and empathize with what you’re going through because I’ve probably been there too. I like to break down clinical approaches to collaboratively determine the best fit for each person’s unique goals. I incorporate elements of neurobiology, cognitive behavioral therapy, and schema work to help people better understand themselves and make meaningful changes in their lives. If you're not sure what you're looking for yet, that's okay! Feel free to reach out to set up an introductory phone call to see if we're a good fit.
Many of the people we work with are thoughtful, caring, and capable individuals who feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. They may be struggling with anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, life transitions, burnout, self-doubt, identity questions, or feeling overwhelmed by the expectations they place on themselves. Some students come to therapy because they’re facing a specific challenge. Others simply want a better understanding of themselves and why they think, feel, or react the way they do. Whether you’re navigating college life, relationships, family dynamics, career decisions, or personal growth, we aim to provide a space that feels supportive, thoughtful, and genuine. Our approach combines practical tools with deeper self-reflection, helping you build insight, develop healthier patterns, and take meaningful steps toward the life you want to create.
Deborah knows that everything heals. One of her favorite quotes continues, “Your heart heals. The mind heals. Wounds heal. Your happiness is always going to come back. Bad times don’t last” (Unknown). As a provider, Deborah offers her clients support, guidance and encouragement to help them find the internal cognitive resources needed to increase their resiliency against life’s difficulties. She encourages her clients to begin their work together with an open mind and a readiness to explore different solutions to their challenges. Since childhood, she has had a passion for helping others and, today, loves it when her patients learn to feel empowered and more positive about themselves and their lives. With an empathetic, conversational approach, Deborah explores behaviors, solutions and goals with her patients. She draws from numerous modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-focused (brief) therapy (SFBT), Reality Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Since her clients are often dealing with complex issues, she pulls from multiple approaches in order to address everyone’s needs.
Anxiety, depression, relationship stress. We all face challenges, and we do the best we can with what we know, and what we have, in the moment.
Sometimes life can become shadowed by trauma, identity struggles, anxiety, depression, or family challenges. I work with adolescents, young adults, LGBTQIA+ clients, pregnant and postpartum people, and culturally diverse communities to gently navigate these shadows through healing, helping relationship. Together, we’ll explore the stories that shape you, honor the experiences that have brought both struggle and strength, and uncover the light within — creating a path toward healing, clarity, empowerment, and hope. Through narrative, somatic, DBT, IFS, and expressive arts therapies, I help you explore the darker places inside you, while nurturing growth and resilience. My approach is warm, collaborative, and affirming — guiding you toward understanding, empowerment, and a brighter sense of possibility. Therapy can feel intimidating as we begin to face the darkest chapters of our stories. I offer a compassionate, safe space to be seen and heard. Together, we’ll navigate challenges, honor your experiences, and uncover the light, strength, and hope already within you.
