For me, I aim to help others transform their lives through compassionate, personalized care (with plenty of humor along the way). I specialize in working with people of color, student-athletes, and those who are neurodivergent. If you’re neurodivergent and reading this, you’ve finally found someone who specializes in and deeply understands your unique perspective. Whether seeking clarity on behaviors, understanding how you interpret the world, or navigating challenges like job functioning and ADHD, I’m here to help. I'm genuinely excited and honored to work with each of my clients and help them reach their goals in life. This isn't just my job, as all my clients will tell you—this is my passion. This is my life. I'm different from any therapist you've ever had, and together, we'll be one of the best teams. I'll be there for you through life's challenges, the ups, the downs, the hardships, the sadness, the happiest moments, the joys, and the promotions 🎉. If you're reading this and choose to work with me, I'm excited to see where we can go together. We'll support and empower you to be the best version of yourself, even if that best version is just not hating yourself anymore. Welcome to the Different Spectrums family! If you're curious about my style and humor, you're welcome to listen to our podcast, which has over forty thousand followers. I enjoy pickup basketball, weightlifting, and yoga outside the therapy room. I'm currently adding golf and fishing to my repertoire. I admit to a penchant for reading half-bought books and comics. To unwind, you'll catch me enjoying Netflix, Disney+, and Hulu comedies. 🏀💪🎓🎣📚 #TherapistExtraordinaire

Establishing a strong working relationship is essential to positive therapeutic outcomes. I firmly believe that therapy works best when you match well on a personal level. Adjusting to college is hard. There's a lot of pressure to do well academically, socially, personally...and it can be helpful to have an unbiased person to vent to and talk about what you're struggling with. I specialize in treating individuals struggling with primary and secondary trauma. I use a multifaceted approach to therapy to meet my clients where they are and to suit their individual needs, whether trauma is a main focus or not.

We can manage your prescription and medications. Our Care Philosophy: I believe the best care comes from building a strong partnership with my patients. I take time to listen closely to each person’s story, value their input, and work with them to create a treatment plan that fits their goals and lifestyle. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and focused on empowering patients to take an active role in their mental health. I explain treatment options clearly, answer questions in plain language, and encourage open communication so patients feel comfortable and informed every step of the way. I also believe in meeting patients where they are—whether that means adjusting care to match their pace or providing extra education and resources to help them feel confident. Above all, my goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care in a safe and respectful environment where patients feel heard, understood, and supported on their journey toward healing and wellness.

My aim in therapy is to create a space that feels collaborative and safe to explore your unique concerns. I prioritize developing an authentic therapy relationship to help you feel comfortable to explore challenging thoughts and experiences. We can all use a bit of help at times, and I am dedicated to helping you identify what meaningful change might look like for you. I strive to approach therapy with an open mind. I am a board-certified psychiatrist and Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. For me, being a physician is more than a profession—it is a vocation to help indviduals flourish. My practice is devoted to students and young adults seeking thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care that extends beyond symptom relief. I provide comprehensive evaluations that consider medical, nutritional, lifestyle, and psychological factors—including laboratory testing when clinically appropriate—to identify the contributors to emotional and cognitive health. I also specialize in evidence-based de-prescribing for patients who wish to reduce or discontinue psychiatric medications for anxiety, attention difficulties, or substance use disorders. My approach is guided by precision, humility, and restraint: using the least intensive intervention necessary while drawing upon the full breadth of evidence-based medicine. Depending on each patient's needs and goals, I integrate psychotherapy, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, exercise, targeted supplementation, and, when appropriate, carefully selected medications into a personalized treatment plan. In addition to my clinical work, I have presented internationally on psychiatric deprescribing and medical ethics. My work has been recognized with awards from the American Psychiatric Association, the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions, the American Psychoanalytic Association, and other leading professional organizations. I am the Founder & Medical Director of Verigrate Health. I am licensed to serve patients in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Lousiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin.

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when you are already juggling classes, relationships, and figuring out your next steps. But you don’t have to navigate it all alone. I believe therapy is a collaborative partnership where you are the expert on your own life. My goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental, and deeply supportive space where you can unpack whatever is weighing you down. I often remind my clients that healing isn’t about erasing the past or pretending everything is perfect; it’s about learning how to live fully right now, even while you are working through old wounds. We all have chapters of our lives shaped by the pain of betrayal, loss, or stress—but those chapters do not get to dictate the rest of your story.

I believe every person’s story matters. Regardless of what you’ve been told in the past or how others have responded to you, your experiences are important. My goal is to create a space where you feel valued, heard, and respected. Counseling is not about fixing you—it’s about understanding you, honoring your story, and helping you reconnect with calm, clarity, and a sense of direction. Healing begins when you feel safe enough to be honest. As a Certified Advanced Addiction & Drug Counselor, I understand that substance use is often a way of coping with pain, stress, or emotions that feel overwhelming. If you’re struggling with substance use, you may carry guilt, shame, or fear about asking for help. I provide a supportive, non-judgmental space to explore what’s behind the behaviors and work toward healthier ways of coping. Recovery is not about perfection—it’s about understanding, support, and building sustainable change one step at a time. My approach to counseling is collaborative and grounded in evidence-based practices. I take time to understand your goals, listen closely to your experiences, and gently guide the process through education, reflection, and meaningful conversation. We may explore family patterns, past experiences, and current stressors to better understand what’s contributing to your challenges. Healing doesn’t happen overnight, but small, steady steps can lead to lasting change. If you’re ready to explore whether counseling could be helpful for you, I’m here to support you. Whether you’re working through trauma, managing ADHD, navigating substance use concerns, or simply feeling overwhelmed, you don’t have to do it alone. You can email directly to schedule appointments at JDusendang@greatlakeswellnesscounseling.com

People seek out a therapist for a variety of reasons-day-to-day life stressors, unhelpful thoughts, or significant life transitions. I want to provide people with a space where they can process any of these topics in a compassionate and empathetic manner. Therapy is a journey and I seek to walk this journey by your side while empowering you to explore, identify, and live the best versions of your life. Prior to working at Therapy Today, I worked at Community Mental health for nearly a decade in various roles and with various populations. I have also worked in a residential treatment facility for youth. In both roles, I provided individual and group therapy and I worked with youth and their families in navigating family dynamics and systems.

One of the things I love most about being a therapist is getting to witness people grow into the fullest, most authentic version of themselves. It’s incredibly meaningful to walk alongside someone as they work through challenges, uncover new insights, and build a life that feels more manageable, intentional, and aligned with who they really are. Watching that progress unfold — from the first session to the breakthroughs along the way — is a privilege I never take for granted. In our sessions, you can expect a space that’s centered around you. I always begin by inviting you to share whatever’s been on your mind lately. I find that when we don’t start there, the thoughts or worries closest to the surface can sometimes get in the way of our deeper work. But if you’re not sure what to talk about or nothing specific is coming up that day, that’s totally okay — I’ll guide us back to the goals you’ve set for therapy or revisit what we’ve been working on. My approach is person-centered, which means you get to lead the way and I’ll meet you there with support and structure. When I describe therapy to people in everyday language, I often say it has two layers. The first is what I call the band-aid approach — where I help you build tools and coping strategies that provide immediate relief. Whether you’re managing anxiety, navigating a conflict, or simply feeling overwhelmed, we’ll work on practical ways to feel better right now. From there, we’ll gently dig deeper into the “why” and the “how” — exploring what’s really going on beneath the surface so we can create long-term change. It’s about building a system in your life that helps you respond more effectively to challenges, emotions, or patterns of behavior. I deeply believe that each person’s story is shaped by their unique life experiences, cultural background, family dynamics, relationships, and more. These influences often play a big role in how we view the world and how we respond to stress or conflict. In therapy, I’ll help you make sense of those influences while also working through whatever issues are most present in your life right now. Healing happens when you’re ready for it — not when someone else tells you it’s time.
