My work draws from several evidenced-based therapeutic approaches including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I tailor my therapeutic approach for each individual client to best meet their unique needs and goals. I specialize in individual therapy for teens and adults. I treat a broad range of issues with a focus on anxiety, depression, and trauma. For those looking to use their insurance benefits, I’m an in-network provider for Aetna and Highmark insurance plans. I work best with students who feel pulled in different directions—academics, friendships, family, work—and are trying to keep up while feeling exhausted on the inside. Many of my clients are navigating ADHD, complicated family dynamics, or relationship stress. Some feel pressure to be “strong” or “put together,” even when they’re struggling. If you want support in understanding yourself better, building healthier boundaries, or feeling more grounded day to day, I’m here to help.

Therapy should be a safe place where you feel heard and your feelings are validated. It can be struggling to find that person you feel comfortable with opening up about your feelings. Being human can be confusing, overwhelming and painful. Despite this predicament, I believe therapy can help shed the feeling of a constricted life and achieve an authentic and empowered sense of self. Through a collaborative and compassion-centered approach, I aim to help hold in a non-judgmental space the challenging parts of life and encourage next steps in your journey. The technique I use most often is trauma-sensitive mindfulness combined with concepts and methods from CBT, DBT and MI while applying lenses such as attachment, familial, cultural, generational and that of global systems.

Since therapy is about connection, finding the right fit for you is important. I aim to make this process more comfortable. I provide a safe and confidential environment. I have my Master of Art degree in Counseling with specialization in Clinical Mental Health. I am currently working on my doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Pennsylvania. Among my areas of training and experience are the treatment of anxiety, depression, mood disorders, complex trauma, PTSD, dissociative disorders, and women’s issues. I use evidence-based treatment. I use traditional models like CBT. I also use EMDR and psychodynamic theories. EMDR is a powerful psychotherapy method to help individuals heal from trauma and other negative life experiences. Additionally, I have a passion for helping other mental health professionals and those in the helping profession. I find being genuine and personable are honorable traits to build relationships. Successful therapy begins with building a strong therapeutic alliance. Goals are important to unveil the person’s fullest potential. However, staying beside someone during challenging times is a powerful source of comfort and equally important.
I have worked with people of all backgrounds but I generally work with women and the LGBT community. I work with clients on self-esteem, body positivity, anxiety management, trauma symptoms, and relational issues. As a human and a provider, I am feminist, anti-racist, fat positive, sex positive, pro-science, pro-vaccine, and pro-LGBT. My approach is varied depending on the individual's history with treatment. For people new to therapy, it may be helpful to utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. CBT involves looking at thoughts patterns and behaviors that may be creating obstacles in your life and setting up appropriate coping skills to address those issues. For people who come to therapy for the purpose of processing trauma, a trauma-informed, relational approach is necessary. For people who are looking to gain understanding about how their past intersects with their present behaviors, insight oriented therapy would be the best approach. I am not a "Listen and Nod" therapist. I will actively listen, provide you with feedback and analysis, and be open with you about your diagnosis, prognosis, and any treatments indicated. With full transparency, I say that I am not a validation-only therapist. Some folks want a therapist who will listen and validate without providing feedback or analysis. That is not my style. I will, however, work with you to figure out exactly how you can benefit from therapy.

You know there is a way to get good sleep, not survive on caffeine, and actually enjoy your evenings. Sometimes we just need a little support to get there. It’s okay to need a little help figuring out what is underneath the stress and get back to living a life you don’t want to escape. Let’s talk about how you can move from dread to joy. Contact me.
