Therapists for college students near Philadelphia, PA
The pandemic pushed many of us to take a step back from our lives and reflect. Once I realized I would be teaching and providing counseling online from home, it was important to me to create a physical space that provided the comfort I needed to be a support to my students and clients. As a nature lover, I set up my new home office with my desk facing my back yard. I began to notice all of the birds that frequented my yard and put up bird feeders to lure my backyard friends closer to my view. I quickly began to realize how much I enjoy watching the birds; not only are they beautiful, they each seem to have their own unique personality and behavior. Each day, I spend time watching the "regulars" - the house finches, goldfinches, and cardinals - happily chirp as they feast on the seed in the feeders. I delight in periodic visits from mourning doves, downy woodpeckers, mockingbirds, and wrens. These backyard birds have given me the opportunity to slow down and appreciate the here-and-now, noticing with intent sights, sounds, and feelings. The introspection I have done has led me to discover my desire to broaden the ways in which I support the wellness of others; Songbird Wellness was born out of this aspiration. My mission through Songbird Wellness is to improve the wellness of others via psychotherapy, group support and counseling, and education. As each bird finds its own way, I am committed to helping you navigate your flight to wellness, in whatever way that journey takes shape.
If you need mental health support, you shouldn’t have to worry about your therapist judging you or making you feel uncomfortable. You are the expert in who you are, and I do my best to learn from my clients and provide a safe space to address whatever you’re going through. I frequently use cognitive behavioral, insight oriented, and emotions focused interventions within session. I’m also trained and certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which is frequently used to address trauma but is also helpful in reducing the distress experienced around any negative thought and replacing it with a healthier/adaptive thought. I appreciate that I can’t be a good fit for everyone, so I welcome consultation calls to explore if my approach to counseling would be supportive to what you’re looking for within therapy.

Too many people are stuck in a cycle of distress without truly resolving anything. This leaves many feeling detached, numb, and uncertain about their future. I believe most mental health challenges can be addressed through effective therapy and by developing healthy coping skills. BUT, that can be so hard to do on your own. I have found for many individuals, having a therapist to talk through issues can be a gamechanger for their mental health. So, I use my seven years of therapy experience to guide people just like you as you work through your mental health challenges and regain control of your life. To get started, your next step is to schedule a 15-min phone consultation to see if we are a good fit. You don’t have to let things get worse or stay feeling numb and overwhelmed. I can help guide you as you overcome your challenges and get back to feeling like yourself again.
I work with college students and young adults navigating anxiety, relationships, and life transitions. My work is rooted in helping you build resilience, insight, and develop solid action methods while navigating the changes that come along in life. Whether it’s relationship challenges or uncertainty about the future, anxiety can leave you feeling exhausted and alone. I’ve found that gaining insight while identifying obstacles and problematic patterns coupled with evidenced-based tools and lots of creativity can help people build lasting life changes. My style reflects a rich sense of curiosity and warmth. I believe that humor blended with lots of respect and smart strategies can be a highly effective therapeutic tool! My goal for therapy is to help each person function at their best through all sorts of situations that pop up in life. Regardless of the type of change, change is going to happen to you at some point in life (it’ll happen a few times!) and I believe counseling can be a healthy way to navigate that transition as smoothly as possible. I am looking forward to meeting you!
Hey! I'm Dr. V with a New Genesis. I have a passion for working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I have over 10 years experience working in the mental health field. Although we cannot change our past, we can acknowledge its impact. We can change how we view our past and ourselves. While working with clients, I encourage expression to gain self-awareness and to reshape narratives. Expression is essential in everyday life, especially when working through difficult times, such as grief and trauma. I practice therapy with a person-centered, trauma-informed, strength based approach to meet clients where they are and to help them make changes to start the healing process. For some clients, verbal expression can be difficult. Creative expression can demonstrate one’s thoughts and feelings in a tangible way. Art Therapy can be helpful in exploring one’s thoughts and feelings and fostering self-awareness. As an Art Therapist, I have the ability and knowledge to bring artmaking into the therapy session and to help facilitate the healing process. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Board-Certified Registered Art Therapist (ATR-BC). I have many years of experience helping people with trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, body image, self-esteem, and addiction. I have experience practicing therapeutic techniques of Trauma Informed Care, CBT, DBT, and MI, as well as Crisis Intervention. I am available for in person sessions, as well as telehealth/virtual sessions.
We are located a few blocks off campus and seek to provide prompt, professional psychotherapy for anxiety, depression, ADHD, and personal adjustment issues for students. Our counselors are psychologists and social workers with experience and compassion. We accept most major insurance providers.

Whether you're looking for skills to help with stress or looking to finally face a trauma that's been haunting you, my goal is to help you change your life for the better, no matter how big or small the problem is. I look forward to working with you!
Greetings! I love counseling and incorporating mind-body interventions to assist clients in rediscovering strengths and aligning their mind, body, and energy. I have spent my career working in education and mental health, and I enjoy sharing what I have learned to empower and support my clients.
Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adults navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma, particularly experiences related to family of origin and attachment. While I work with adults of all ages, I have a special interest in supporting emerging adults - including college, graduate, and medical students - as they manage the emotional and relational challenges that can arise during these stages of life. I support clients in addressing current life challenges while also seeking to answer questions about why these challenges exist in the first place. I do this through a collaborative, relational, and trauma-informed approach that blends deeper insight with practical support. Drawing from psychodynamic and attachment-based work, along with CBT, DBT, and mindfulness, I help clients understand patterns, regulate emotions, and build skills that support meaningful, lasting change. Starting therapy can feel uncertain, and it’s completely normal to have questions or mixed emotions. Please know you don’t have to figure it out on your own. I aim to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and understood. If you’re considering therapy, I invite you to reach out to see if we would be a good fit.

In therapy, I strive to create space where clients may explore their inner landscapes and make sense of themselves in their relationships and larger social contexts. I believe that most people have parts of themselves that are affirmed and other parts that have gone underground — perhaps as a result of relational injury, lack of environmental mirroring, or trauma. I seek to develop a supportive relationship where clients can begin to see the unseen and speak the unspeakable and, with self compassion and courage, work to integrate those parts and reduce suffering and experience deeper connection and meaning. That describes, in part, the process of exploratory therapy but what is a session actually like? We talk. People share their stories— maybe the latest relationship entanglement, feeling burdened with perfectionism, dissecting a racial microaggression that happened in class, or a painful memory from elementary school. I’m curious about nuance and felt experience and I reflect and ask questions to help deepen understanding. I work through psychodynamic, intersectional, and multicultural lenses. I have worked extensively with undergraduate and graduate students in both domestic and international settings. And, I have experience working with a range of presenting concerns including anxiety, stress, complex identity, immigration, and loss. I’ve been described as kind, patient, inquisitive, and discerning. Prior to moving to Princeton in 2015, I lived in China for five years during which I worked as a therapist at Community Center Shanghai and NYU Shanghai. I am originally from Taiwan and immigrated to the US as a child. My biracial and bicultural heritage along with my immigrant and expatriate experiences have created a particular interest in working with international students, immigrants, people who identify as mixed race, and students either preparing for or returning from studying abroad. My private practice is conveniently located walking distance from Princeton University campus on 344 Nassau Street. I work extensively with graduate and undergraduate students and accept PU student health insurance (students are responsible for their $10 copay).
Struggling with your mental health? Try therapy tailored to your needs. Feeling disconnected in an increasingly distracted world? Not prioritizing your mental well-being? College can be exciting and overwhelming. I work best with students who feel stuck, stressed, or unsure about who they’re becoming. Whether you’re navigating identity shifts, relationship challenges, family pressure, or big decisions, I offer a calm, nonjudgmental space to sort things out. You don’t have to have it all figured out. We’ll work together to help you feel more grounded, clear, and confident in your next steps.
Many college students today lack the coping skills that are necessary to address life’s ups and downs. They often feel disconnected emotionally, and are unable to handle stress, peer and relationship issues, or the school, college, or work environment. When a teen is struggling with academics, they receive tutoring or support to develop the skills they need to succeed. Emotional health is no different. Teens need tools to help them regulate their emotions, develop connections with others, and create a healthy, well-rounded lifestyle. I take an integrated, solution-focused approach to working with adolescents and young adults who are dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, and ADHD. I treat the whole person, not just their symptoms, with the goal of giving them the tools they need to manage whatever comes their way – now and for the rest of their lives.
