Are stress, anxiety, overthinking, or self-doubt making it harder to keep up with classes, relationships, or your goals? Maybe you're feeling burned out, stuck in unhealthy patterns, struggling with motivation, or finding it difficult to enjoy the things that used to make you happy. If so, you're not alone—many face these challenges while navigating the pressures of college, graduate school, medical school, work and other life transitions. I'm Dr. Laura Travers Heinig, a clinical psychologist who specializes in helping students and young adults improve their mental health through a mind-body approach to therapy. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, stress, depression, perfectionism, OCD, ADHD, AuDHD, academic pressure, or major life changes, I provide a supportive space where you can explore what's holding you back and build practical skills to move forward. My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and goal-oriented. Together, we'll identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck and develop effective strategies to help you feel more confident, balanced, and connected to the life you want to create. Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming, especially when you're already managing a busy schedule. Whether you decide to reach out to me or continue exploring your options, taking the time to prioritize your mental health is an important step toward greater well-being, resilience, and success. **I am an out of network provider which gives you additional confidentiality. I offer a sliding scale for lower rates if needed! And upon request, I do provide a form for your insurance company to reimburse you should you wish to submit your information to them. But this way, the decision is in your hands!**

Licensed in CA, NC, FL and PA—offering seamless virtual care for students on campus and those traveling home for breaks. I am a Licensed Psychologist. I attended U of Miami, FL for my B.S, M.S., and Ph.D. As part of my graduate program, I completed courses and did research at Duke, U of Penn, Jefferson University, and Rutgers. I completed a specialized post-graduate Harvard program to understand and overcome internal barriers to achieve personal growth. Later in life, I became a UCLA Alum by obtaining my Certificate in Human Resource Management and was selected as the valedictorian for my speciality. This added a capability to enhance my work as a Strategic Human Resource Executive for two large Aerospace companies based in Torrance, CA. I live in beautiful Napa, CA. My practice is virtual using a secured platform. I see adults 18+ yo for individual therapy. For the past 30 plus years, I helped people just like you find ways to get on track with their lives. My goal for you is to understand yourself and be able to take steps to feel the way you want to feel. During our initial sessions, I ask that you share what you feel I need to know about your situation and circumstance, your feelings, about who you are and what you hope to gain through therapy. I take time to get to know you. We will explore your thoughts, feelings, reactions that arise in therapy as these are just as important as what happens outside of therapy. You will design your own unique tools and techniques to use throughout your life in various situations that give you relief and help during difficult times. Compassionate and patient, encouraging you to overcome hurdles you can control and let go of ones you can’t. We will move you towards your best self by holding you accountable for your own growth. We work collaboratively; starting with what’s happening now, breaking things down into manageable areas to work on. We explore ways to increase your awareness and your actions from how you view things to your actual behaviors. I keep up with the latest science on evidenced based approaches, and leverage our current understanding of our whole body. You'll gain resilience to handle life’s challenges. I believe that we are creative, resourceful & whole... and sometimes, we just need a helping hand. We have genetics and learned behaviors that make us who we are. Think about it, if we can learn what we have learned to bring us to where we are today, without even trying, imagine what we can do if we put just a little bit of effort and energy into learning something different that would work better for us today. If we take care of our whole body, eat right, stay active, stimulate our brains, give to and receive from others then we do better dealing with stress and challenges. I do practice the things I talk about. It’s important that I take care of myself. And we’re not prefect so sometimes we stop our best practices and then we realize we need to pick them up again because we notice the negative impact. That’s me too. I love that we have similarities and differences as humans, that’s what makes us so wondrous! If you want to learn more about how I can help, send me a message. Please be sure to share your personal email and your personal cell phone so I can reach you.

College can be a naturally high stress period during your life. I’m here to help. With a career spanning business and higher education administration, I am equipped to support students as they navigate this critical transition period in their life. Providing guidance and support for students in highly competitive and high-pressure environments is a cornerstone of my experience as a master's program coordinator at the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League institution. For many, college is less of an exciting journey and more of an overwhelming burden. As an Asian American, LGBTQ+ therapist, I am passionate about addressing the unique cultural and intergenerational dynamics that can shape your mental health experiences. My therapeutic style is client-forward and we’ll work together to identify, understand, and alleviate the pressure points in your life. Feel free to reach out for a consultation – I look forward to our work together!

I’m a licensed psychotherapist who works with young people to understand and disrupt unhelpful patterns, better cope with challenging situations and discover greater ease, self-acceptance and healthy expression. I am committed to serving students in all content areas to navigate pressure, the pursuit of excellence and transition to career. It is important to me that LGBTQ+ people feel safe in the therapeutic space. I often help clients navigate grief, complex trauma or anxiety and I offer unique therapeutic perspectives when supporting those processing childhood rejection, ADHD and executive functioning challenges, university stress, or careers in the arts. My clinical practice is informed and enriched by my career as a professor, director, and administrator in the performing arts. I have directed or taught theatre courses at some of the most well-regarded theatre programs in the country, including Juilliard, Yale School of Drama, and NYU TISCH School of the Arts. As a therapist, I create a space for you to bring your whole self, feel safe, respected and understood as well as learn new skills and take on new perspectives. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all therapy, instead I tailor therapy to your individual needs. I draw from cognitive-behavioral, relational, and trauma-informed strategies, while also integrating expressive arts and movement or somatic lenses when useful. And I always offer a steady and reliable presence. Clients who work with me gain a more accurate understanding of what is really going on for them, and make positive changes in their thoughts, assessments and actions, resulting in greater satisfaction and functioning in their lives. My work is grounded in the belief that trust is the foundation for healing and growth. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can explore who you are, understand what’s getting in the way of the life you want, and learn tools to support meaningful change. Growth can be uncomfortable, but it’s also an opportunity to rediscover yourself—and you don’t have to do it alone. In my practice, I support clients navigating neurodivergence (including ADHD and autism), racial and cultural identity, sexual health, problematic porn use, and challenges with executive functioning. Together, we work on building awareness, creating systems that support your unique needs, and developing skills to foster balance and connection in your life. My background spans clinical practice, advocacy, and policy. I’ve had the privilege of serving communities both locally and internationally including work in Mexico and Ghana, and serving as Director of Health Policy and Advocacy at a healthcare advocacy organization focused on Latino communities. These experiences have shaped my commitment to equity, inclusion, and cultural humility. Whether you’re exploring your identity, working through relationship challenges, or learning to create healthier habits and boundaries, I’m here to support you in finding yourself and building meaningful relationships both with others and with yourself that will help you thrive! Reach out for a free 15-minute video consultation so we can decide if I'm the right therapist for you!

College life is an ongoing balancing act that can feel overwhelming, swinging quickly between success (acing an exam) and total collapse (stress from classes, relationships, and the future). If you're experiencing stress, anxiety, or burnout that makes it hard to focus, connect with others, or feel like yourself, you're not alone. Therapy offers a judgment-free, low-pressure space to sort through the noise, hit pause, and figure things out so you can feel more grounded, confident, and in control. My approach is warm, genuine, and sometimes funny, showing that therapy doesn't have to feel heavy. Reach out for a free 15-minute video consultation! If you're ready to let go of constant pressure and feel lighter, it's time to connect.

I have worked collaboratively and effectively with those individuals addressing their difficulties such as anxiety, depression, interpersonal issues, self-esteem, life transitions and trauma. While working together in a safe space, we will strive to reduce/eliminate negative thoughts and feelings. To achieve this outcome, I utilize a client-centered approach along with a CBT framework. Strengths are emphasized in therapy as an important asset to treatment success. Although individuals going through challenging times tend to seek out therapy, caregivers are often overlooked as those who could benefit from support themselves. I have been trained in the nurtured heart approach and have provided caregivers with techniques to assist with the individual’s treatment progress. I have worked in a multitude of settings including a hospital-based residential treatment facility for adolescents, a county care management organization, and in a community outpatient therapy setting. Along with a master’s degree in counseling, I have a post master’s certificate in clinical mental health. I am a licensed therapist in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I have also earned my credential as a clinical supervisor (ACS) to provide peer/collegial support.

Most of the clients I work with feel things deeply. They might worry a lot, get overwhelmed easily, or feel stuck when friendships or school start to feel hard. Some feel misunderstood at home or unsure how to explain what’s going on inside. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. I help clients slow things down, talk through what’s weighing on them, and find ways to feel more confident and steady again.

If you’re someone who looks like they have it together but feels overwhelmed on the inside, you’re probably a good fit here. Many of the people I work best with are students or young adults navigating big changes like college, new jobs, relationships, or figuring out who they are outside of family expectations. You might struggle with anxiety, overthinking, or feeling unsure of yourself, especially when it comes to setting boundaries or making decisions. If you’re tired of second-guessing yourself and want support that feels real, encouraging, and practical, I’d love to work with you.
