Lifeologie Counseling works with a very diverse set of clientele that experience a multitude of mental health and life issues. Lifeologie's Durham practice is located about 15 minutes from North Carolina Central University's campus and has worked closely with many students and faculty from the school. Graduate students from numerous universities, including NCCU, Wake Forest, and NC State, have completed their practicum/internships at Lifeologie Counseling and have begun working under the owner/supervisor, Dr. Elizabeth Grady. While working in close connection with colleges across NC, Lifeologie has had the opportunity to help counsel and connect with undergraduate, graduate, transfer, first generation, and many other types of students. Healing Arts Collaborative is a community-driven therapy and healing arts practice based on Occaneechi, Shakori, Cheraw, Tuscarora, and Lumbee ancestral land (so-called Durham, North Carolina). We are mental healthcare workers committed to providing safe, affirming, and culturally responsive healthcare for our 2SLGBTQIA+ community. HAC practitioners are committed to decolonial, abolitionist, anti-racist, anti-ableist and liberation principles in our work and personal lives. Our therapy style is person-centered, trauma-informed, queer- and gender-celebratory, sex-positive, fat positive, and anti-oppressive. We value personal and collective artistic, musical, movement-based, dramatic, and written expression, and hold space for these liberatory practices in and outside of therapy sessions. We are inspired by wellness frameworks that acknowledge the impact of personal, community, and environmental relationships and systems of oppression on a person's development, health, and well-being, including: -Healing Justice -Relational-Cultural Counseling Theory -Health at Every Size Principles -Harm Reduction Principles -Social Justice Art Therapy We work together with our clients to challenge the Medical Industrial Complex, white supremacy, ableist cis-hetero patriarchy, and related oppressive systems by naming individual and collective experiences of oppression and learning to live into our innate power. In addition to individual, relationship/family, and group psychotherapy, we also offer therapeutic workshops for larger groups, clinical supervision for pre-licensed mental healthcare providers, and training and consultation for healthcare professionals.

We are a diverse collective of queer, trans, cis, anti-racist healers, makers, bodyworkers, change makers, counselors, artists, social workers, physicians, musicians, energy workers, clinical and counseling psychologists, activists, caregivers, justice seekers, peacemakers, movement guides, yogis, workers, dream weavers, trouble makers and scholars. We believe in the inherent worth and dignity of each person and offer sliding scale services based on an economic justice model of financial privilege. to that end, we challenge white supremacy, capitalism, ableism and all systems of oppression to make our programs and services more affordable and accessible to poor and working class people and people of color. We affirm that all individuals are the experts of their own experiences and choices and are committed to providing trans-informed care and support trans folx in their gender self determination using an informed consent model of care. We believe that individual wellness contributes to social justice and social justice contributes to individual wellness and that radical inclusion must involve radical transformation. We understand that through the pursuit of justice, equity, healing and reconciliation we may cultivate healthier societies and foster relationships with self and community liberated from violence and oppression. In our efforts to ensure ongoing, successful collaboration with the LGBTQueer+, People of Color and people of all identities, we commit to regular, ongoing trainings, consultation and are active agents of change and advocacy in our communities. Big changes have a way of shaking loose questions you thought you had already answered-about who you are, where you belong, and who you want to be. You don’t have to figure it all out alone. I work with students and young adults who are navigating these in-between phases that can be confusing and overwhelming.

I use an integrative model primarily developed from Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, with post-modern existentialism. What that means is we focus on what you're doing and I help you decide what the meaning of things are. Meaning of life stuff, or just the meaning of an event. My background is extensive and diverse, so I believe I can offer a great deal of perspective and help you figure out whatever it is that seems to be holding you up.

My primary goal as a counselor is to create an open and non-judgmental space in which clients can express their thoughts and feelings freely. None of us are without our struggles, and I find it beneficial for each of us to have a space where we can explore these struggles reflectively and creatively. I aspire to gain a holistic understanding of my clients, their life experiences, and their issues, so that we might collectively explore opportunities for growth through evidence-based practice. I find great value in person-centered, cognitive behavioral, acceptance & commitment, and existential therapies. However, perhaps the greatest determinant of success is a relationship built upon mutual trust and understanding between counselor and client. I believe that sound counseling practice is an active, and at times difficult, process for the client. However, take comfort in the fact that it is my mission as a counselor to walk with you through trial and tribulation. I would be honored to join you on your journey.
