I have extensive experience working with people who have experienced loss in their life. I have worked many years in the hospice setting and it would be my honor to help you find hope and meaning. I enjoy working with adults struggling through a life transition, college stress, medical issue, professional burnout, caregiver burnout, trauma, anxiety/perinatal anxiety, or grief. My clients desire to connect to an internal sense of sturdiness that allows them to live more empowered, hopeful and meaningful lives. I have a clinical specialty working with people who are struggling to find connection in their relationships and are at a crossroad in their life (divorce, grief & loss, new parents, affair recovery, professional burnout). I would be honored to help you make sense of your life and rebuild again. I strive to provide a compassionate, gentle, safe, and trustworthy environment that fosters a strong, therapeutic relationship. I operate from a holistic therapy approach that is person-centered and draws on the strengths of my clients. My approach integrates a variety of theories to help clients gain a better understanding of themselves and their emotions. I am dedicated to creating a non-judgmental and empathic space where my clients feel seen and heard. I value and honor the unique story of each client, as well as the vulnerability it takes to reach out for support. Together, we will hold curiosity about your struggles and begin a journey of growth and healing.

Many of the students I work with are trying to juggle a lot: school, work, relationships, family, and their own mental health. Some are dealing with anxiety, depression, or ADHD, while others are working through trauma or just feeling stuck and overwhelmed. What they tend to have in common is a desire to feel better and a willingness to take that first step toward support, even if they’re not exactly sure where to start. I work best with students who want someone who will listen without judgment, explain things clearly, and help them find a path that fits their unique goals, whether that includes therapy, medication, or both. You don’t need to have it all figured out before reaching out. We can work through it together.

I work primarily with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression and diminished self-esteem. These issues manifest in many different ways and may include an inability to make decisions, difficulty maintaining relationships, low confidence, discomfort in social settings, exhaustion, fears that may seem irrational and poor view of self. I enjoy digging into these issues because they can be debilitating and it is amazing to witness the life change that can occur through therapeutic self discovery. Through the use of Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques, my focus involves supporting clients in self-esteem development, anxiety reduction, mood improvement and personal growth. It is important to me that my clients truly feel heard and I strive to instill strength in every session. If you are ready to take control of your life, move past fear and doubt and really SOAR, schedule an appointment today. I am excited to join you in this journey of healing and self discovery!

I approach therapy with a warm, collaborative, and person-centered style, focusing on building genuine relationships that foster trust and growth. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel heard, valued, and understood. I believe growth occurs through authentic connection and self-exploration, and I work alongside clients to help them recognize their strengths, gain insight into their experiences, and make meaningful changes in their lives. Before joining Therapy Today, I gained experience working with children, college students, adults, and older adults in a variety of settings. My background includes providing individual and group counseling, conducting psychological assessments, and supporting clients with concerns such as anxiety, stress, life transitions, and identity development. I have also worked with individuals with disabilities and facilitated an LGBTQ+ support group. These experiences have strengthened my ability to meet clients where they are and provide compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to their unique needs. Outside of my work as a therapist, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and staying active. I’m passionate about continual learning and personal growth, and I often find inspiration through reading and creative outlets. I value meaningful connections and believe that authenticity and balance are essential both in and outside the therapy room. These experiences help me relate to clients with empathy and understanding as they navigate their own challenges and seasons of growth.

I believe every person’s story matters. Regardless of what you’ve been told in the past or how others have responded to you, your experiences are important. My goal is to create a space where you feel valued, heard, and respected. Counseling is not about fixing you—it’s about understanding you, honoring your story, and helping you reconnect with calm, clarity, and a sense of direction. Healing begins when you feel safe enough to be honest. As a Certified Advanced Addiction & Drug Counselor, I understand that substance use is often a way of coping with pain, stress, or emotions that feel overwhelming. If you’re struggling with substance use, you may carry guilt, shame, or fear about asking for help. I provide a supportive, non-judgmental space to explore what’s behind the behaviors and work toward healthier ways of coping. Recovery is not about perfection—it’s about understanding, support, and building sustainable change one step at a time. My approach to counseling is collaborative and grounded in evidence-based practices. I take time to understand your goals, listen closely to your experiences, and gently guide the process through education, reflection, and meaningful conversation. We may explore family patterns, past experiences, and current stressors to better understand what’s contributing to your challenges. Healing doesn’t happen overnight, but small, steady steps can lead to lasting change. If you’re ready to explore whether counseling could be helpful for you, I’m here to support you. Whether you’re working through trauma, managing ADHD, navigating substance use concerns, or simply feeling overwhelmed, you don’t have to do it alone. You can email directly to schedule appointments at JDusendang@greatlakeswellnesscounseling.com

“Live simply so others may simply live.” – Mahatma Gandhi I believe therapy is a relationship experience between client and counselor. I, as a counselor, am an expert in my field and my client is an expert of themselves. My approach to therapy stems from the belief that client and counselor work best together as a team, to help uncover the core beliefs and traits taught to us as children and young adults. I incorporate empathy and unconditional positive regard into each of my sessions, to work towards connection and understanding of one another and one’s self. I have experience working in both partial hospitalization program and outpatient settings. My experience stems from working with children and teens with autism, to working with adults with severe anxiety and depression. I have experience working as a mentor of juveniles, as well as a professional in the foster care system. My experience allows for me to keep an open mind when going into the therapy setting, to better understand my clients and their individual backgrounds.

Emotional peace and freedom are possible, whatever storm you may find yourself in. I work with adults navigating life transitions, relational conflict, family stressors, and who want to know themselves more deeply. So often there are a multitude of factors at play- relationships, academics, work, culture, and more- and therapy can be a place to explore how these impact thoughts, feelings, experiences, and your sense of self. It is my hope and commitment to create a space where exploring your challenges and goals can allow for the kind of growth and peace you want in your life and relationships.

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you've been carrying the weight of anxiety, trauma, relationship struggles, identity questions, or overwhelming emotions for a long time. You don't have to navigate those challenges alone. I work with young adults who are ready to better understand themselves, break unhelpful patterns, and create lasting change. Whether you're navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, personality concerns, life transitions, or questions surrounding identity, therapy can provide both practical tools and a space to process what you've been through. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and tailored to each person. I integrate evidence-based approaches, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while recognizing that every person's experiences and goals are unique.
