As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults who struggle with emotional dysregulation that can lead to impulsive behaviors or avoidance. My work focuses on helping clients develop emotional awareness, increase psychological flexibility, and cultivate self-compassion while building practical tools for meaningful, lasting change. I bring over ten years of experience in community mental health, two years spent in a full-time position at Western Colorado University’s Counseling Center, where I provided individual counseling to students. As both a former WCU therapist and an alumni of the same school, I have a deep appreciation for the unique challenges students in a small mountain community can face and the support they deserve. My therapeutic approach is integrative and holistic, drawing from evidence-based modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I also incorporate principles from interpersonal neurobiology and attachment theory to create a supportive, grounded, and collaborative environment. I am trained in EMDR and can integrate this more structured approach to trauma processing if requested or recommended. I’m passionate about this work because I believe in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship and in every person’s capacity for growth. Together, we can create a space that fosters resilience, insight, and meaningful change.

If anxiety, intrusive thoughts, OCD, phobias or depressive thoughts take up too much space in your life, I will work with you to uncover their sources. You can establish and engage in useful coping skills that will allow you to spend less time battling your thoughts and more time living the life you want. If you're a couple struggling with relationship concerns, I will work with you to restore harmony in your relationship and strengthen your connection. I aim to provide a safe, warm and non-judgmental environment for my clients to explore their emotions, while also feeling comfortable and validated when sharing experiences, thoughts and behaviors. I practice using evidence-based modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Radically Open Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (RO-DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), as well as self-compassion and mindfulness techniques. Gottman Method Couples Therapy informs my work with couples. If you choose therapy as a next step, I would be honored to work with you and support you in your journey of self-growth and healing! Hi! I’m Marissa, a Licensed Professional Counselor with a background in school counseling. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling, and I focus on learning ways in which people are best able to process traumas, build self-compassion, and practice coping skills for individuals to strengthen their abilities to handle everyday life, and its curveballs. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, stress, trauma, overthinking, and relationship challenges. My approach is grounded, genuine, and centered around creating a space that actually feels human. I want clients to feel like they can come in exactly as they are — messy thoughts, uncertainty, humor, emotions and all — without feeling judged or pressured to “have it together.” I care deeply about building real, trusting connections and meeting people where they’re at, while helping them grow, heal, and feel more confident and at peace in their lives. Together we’ll explore your current challenges, goals, strengths, and what kind of support may feel most helpful for you. There is no pressure to have everything figured out or share everything right away. My goal is for you to leave feeling comfortable, understood, and hopeful about the process moving forward.

Spring EOP is here for any step of recovery, whether or not you have been to treatment. We aim to bridge the gap between leaving treatment and the transition back to life. For individuals who need to work, attend school, and have ongoing family obligations, the limited time outpatient therapy provides may not be enough to sufficiently support the investment that’s been made in residential treatment with the continued journey of sobriety. Many clients who have experienced residential treatment find that there is a greater need for clinical support beyond one session weekly; at Spring EOP we are here to support this transition with continued, consistent care. Additionally, we understand not everyone is ready for treatment, a client does not have to be transitioning out of a higher level of care to be an ideal client for us. We are there for every step of the recovery. We offer support to loved ones through CRAFT group as well as therapy for couples, family, and loved ones. We accept ages 15 and up.

ABOUT ME: I have a Bachelors in Ayurvedic Medicine ( BAMS) from India and a Masters (MSEd) from University of Dayton, Ohio. I am licensed by the State of Ohio as a Professional Counselor, license number C.0600087, and also by the State of Colorado, License No. LPC.0012340. I am Certified in CBT, Kundalini Yoga and Meditation and Emotion Freedom Technique (EFT). My counseling practice is limited to Individual Adults. I also offer Coaching for optimum Health and Wellness through Ayurveda and Mindfulness based disease management. I coach clients suffering from Pain and illness, Cancer, Diabetes, Heart disease, Weight issues, women's health issues, other lifestyle and chronic conditions. MY PHILOSOPHY: As a Counselor, Coach and Ayurvedic Consultant I approach the therapeutic process from a holistic view point. I believe that the integration of the body, mind and spirit is an essential expression of personal health. Many of today’s Mental, Physical and Social Illnesses stem from a lack of integration-disintegration, resulting in persons dissociated from themselves, the community and the environment. My focus is on the whole person, with special emphasis on how the mind is connected directly to the body and how a person thinks, feels and acts. Emphasis will be on wellness, with symptoms seen as calls to self-realization. MY SPECIALTIES: Individual counseling services for disorders such as: Anxiety Spectrum disorders like: Panic Attacks, PTSD, OCD, Social anxiety, Phobias, IBS, Stress management and Worry; Depressive disorders like: Mania, Bipolar disorder, Post-partum depression, and Depression; Sleep disorders like Insomnia and sleep/wake disorders Group practice: I have a team of counselors who work with me. In the event that so don’t have openings my team will be able to help with the case load.

Many people come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or exhausted from carrying the same stress, grief, relationship struggles, or emotional pain for far too long. You may feel frustrated that despite your efforts, the same patterns keep showing up in your relationships, communication feels difficult, burnout has taken over, or life no longer feels sustainable in the way it once did. Some clients come in feeling anxious, emotionally drained, lost in a major life transition, or unsure how to reconnect with themselves or the people they love. If this sounds like you, I'm glad you're here. I specialize in working with young adults and couples experiencing relationship distress, emotional disconnection, attachment injury, burnout, betrayal trauma, separation, and major life transitions. I also support women navigating pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, identity shifts, and the emotional challenges that can come with these changes. I believe therapy should be a collaborative process rooted in honesty, connection, and compassion. Using a person-centered, attachment-based approach, I work alongside clients to explore the emotions and patterns keeping them stuck. Together, we work toward healing, healthier relationships, and greater overall balance, hope, and fulfillment.

I aim to guide clients in discovering their patterns and getting off autopilot to begin living a life they choose! I am strongly connected with non-traditional lifestyles and work to cultivate a safe place for all people, most frequently working with clients in queer, non-monogamous, & kink relationships. Most of my clients are wanting to work on issues mostly unrelated to but within the context of these communities and lifestyles, and are tired of having to spend so much time explaining the context to therapists unfamiliar with their world. I also work with folks looking to explore these aspects of themselves for the first time. Growing up, my father's Navy career caused our family to move every 0.5-2.5 years. Since transition was my constant, I developed unique insight into the complex intersection and paradox of excitement, anxiety, fear, resistance, confidence, insecurity, love, and hate that can all be felt simultaneously during times of major change. This is why I love working with college students and helping them to navigate experiences such as: being away from home and re-configuring family relationships; exploring new friendships and romantic relationships; discovering their life path(s); learning a larger variety of ways to cope, communicate, and relate to themselves and the world; and diving more deeply into issues related to identity (e.g. sexuality, gender, higher consciousness, vocation, etc.). I tailor my approach with each of my clients, but primarily utilize mindfulness, experiential activities, and somatic techniques (i.e. deepening the relationship and communication between your mind and body).

If insight alone hasn’t changed your patterns, something deeper is begging to be understood. High functioing anxiety? Disconnected, or stuck in repeating relationship and life patterns? Overwhelmed or just plain blah? It's life changing to incorporate body, mind and heart to fully develop a strong internal sense of self. I integrate psychotherapy with the Enneagram and yoga therapy to uncover the unconscious patterns driving stress, attachment, and emotional reactivity. Knowing your Enneagram type and subtype often accelerates therapy by revealing why you cope the way you do—so change becomes embodied, precise, and lasting. With 25+ years of experience, I offer a holistic, trauma-informed approach integrating cognitive behavioral and somatic therapy. My style is straightforward and supportive. As a 2x published author, Enneagram-certified therapist, and yoga therapist, I work with individuals and couples to customize mind-body treatment that supports real, lasting change. Witnessing the transformation as you move from wounded, unbalanced and fearful, to being empowered, focused and self-reliant, is one of my greatest rewards. The power of growth never fails to amaze me, and I am grateful to be part of your journey! I welcome you to begin this process! Now, all you have to do is click the button to start. I've got you! :)

Finding Acceptance, Moving Towards Change Book a Free Consultation Are you struggling with aligning your life activities with your values and goals? Do you find yourself feeling stuck in unfulfilling relationships? It’s vital to acknowledge and face your current situation and the feelings you have about it in order to make change happen, and psychotherapy provides space for this. We'll begin by talking about your goals for therapy, and we'll collaborate on a plan for our work together. You can expect to develop more perspective and self-compassion, find a new capacity to navigate difficult feelings, and uncover and work towards freedom from habitual thought patterns. I am curious by nature, and I’d love to help you explore your particular individuality and its connection with your life history and desires. Through our work together, you’ll gain new insight and appreciation for who you are as you grow in expressing previously unspoken parts of yourself. I’ll ask a lot of questions in our conversations, but also hold space for you to discover your own thoughts and speak them. It can be difficult to begin a journey of self-discovery. But with the right support, the work finds its rhythm, and improvements can come surprisingly quickly. Please contact me for a free telephone consultation, and we can discuss where we might start our work together.
