A tending space for LGTBQ+ and/or Neurodivergent individuals and couples and for folks with complex trauma. If you’ve learned to survive by shrinking, masking, or staying vigilant, you’re not broken—you adapted. Healing doesn’t require forcing change, but moving at the speed of trust and rhythm of safety with someone attuned alongside you. I am a trauma-informed, non-pathologizing therapist rooted in somatic, creative, and relational modalities where I help clients to cultivate nervous system safety and regulation, reconnect with their bodies and intuition, and reclaim their authenticity and agency, supporting them in living a more expressed, embodied, and expansive life.
I have 30 years of working with adolescents and young adults. My approach to therapy is founded in the value of the therapeutic relationship. It is very important my clients feel heard and validated with a sense of security as they explore their experiences of both suffering and success. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidenced based psychotherapy treatment to help improve communication with others, reduce fears and phobias, interrupt thoughts that lead to addictive or other self-destructive behaviors, improve self esteem and change negative thought patterns. I have extensive experience working with diverse populations in psychiatric hospitals, treatment programs, the criminal justice system, young adult transitional programs, family systems and private practice.

In my person-centered, strengths-based therapeutic environment, I integrate EMDR, expressive writing and arts exercises, trauma-informed mindfulness techniques, and talk therapy to help you reconnect to yourself and your self-worth. I am an ANCC board certified nurse practitioner specializing in the identification, treatment, and management of psychological disorders. I received both my masters and doctoral degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. I am certified across the lifespan but specialize in treating adolescents and adults with a variety of mental health conditions. My work history includes not only medication management in both inpatient and outpatient settings, but also psychotherapy with an emphasis on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have written several book chapters and journal articles that have been published in literature directed towards primary care providers. Collaborating and coordinating patient care amongst all care providers is something that I have always integrated into my practice as it is very important in guiding successful and holistic outcomes. It is my goal to provide patient centered care in a way in which each patient feels heard, validated, and an integral part of their own treatment.
Esther Horowitz MA, LPC, CCTP is a bilingual (Spanish/English) mental health counselor who graduated as a Clinical Psychologist from Universidad San Francisco de Quito, (Ecuador) in 2013. She held a private practice in Ecuador for a year, working with the Spanish-speaking population, before getting her Masters Degree at Naropa University in 2018. Esther has worked in various environments including working with court-ordered clients for DUI, DV, and Anger Management. Esther has worked at CU Boulder since 2018 supporting staff and faculty offering bilingual counseling for individuals, couples and families. Esther has worked with individuals, families, relationships/couples for over a decade and is passionate about a holistic approach to mental health. A lot of clients do not feel comfortable with talk therapy, so Esther applies writing and drawing to her sessions to enhance the work that can be done collaboratively between client and counselor.
